Letter from the Brentford Football Club boardroom, 29th March 2006
Dear Supporters,
This week saw me attend my third board meeting.
With the departures of both the CEO and Commercial Manager it has given the board the opportunity to assess the organisational needs of the Club before deciding to seek replacements for these positions. It also gives the new board the opportunity to find out more about the Club’s operation. To help this process we have each taken on an area of the Club’s budget and agreed to work with the staff involved to establish what opportunity there is to improve budget performance. The outcome of this work will be reviewed at the next board meeting at the end of April.
The financial situation continues to be difficult but the work we are now doing will help us manage the position better in the future.
Work has commenced to improve marketing the Club. Club director Ian Jones is working with supporters with expertise in this area and he would welcome any other supporters with marketing related skills to get involved too. Please contact me, in the first instance, if you have this experience and would like to get involved.
I was disturbed at the high profile ejection that took place on Saturday. After the game I received a couple of complaints about the way it was handled. I have passed these on to my fellow director David Heath who is investigating the matter.
Finally it was good to be seated in Brook Road for the game against Doncaster. I got the “blame” again for the result (last time I was there was against Port Vale)! Still, I am confident Martin and the boys will turn it round if we continue to back them.
Let’s work together!
Jon Gosling
