Letter from the Brentford FC boardroom, 18th April 2006

Dear Supporters,

On Saturday I was delighted to have both Luke Kirton and Emma Parry as my guests at Rotherham.

Luke has done a truly remarkable job as our representative (for the ABeeC Party) on Hounslow Borough Council. He became a member of a Council that had very little time for the Club and has subsequently played a significant part in changing the Council’s attitude toward the Club. In fact, he improved the relationship to such a degree that it is no longer felt necessary for the ABeeC Party to field candidates at the forthcoming local elections. So come the 4th May Luke will stand down as a councillor for the Brentford Ward but he should look back with pride at his achievements. All Brentford FC supporters owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude. I salute you sir!

It was Emma’s birthday on 13 April (I promised not to say how old she was!) and as Chair of BIAS, she and the rest of the committee do an important job representing an independent voice of Brentford supporters. Although the Supporters’ Trust now own the Club it is essential that there is an independent view being taken of events at the Club. BIAS play a vital role in maintaining the checks and balances required to have a healthy Club. I will continue to work with BIAS who provide constructive input into the Club. If you are not a member I urge you to join (full details at BIAS).

We had another incidence of ticket touting on Monday. We obtained some of these tickets and have identified some new sources which are now being investigated. I would like to thank those supporters who got involved in getting these tickets. This really does help us stamp this practice out and stop the Club being robbed of much needed revenue. With the all ticket game against Hartlepool coming up I urge you once again, if you are offered cheap tickets, to identify the individual and alert one of the Club stewards.

Finally I would like to thank all those volunteers who helped with the distribution of the season ticket brochures at Monday’s game.

Let’s work together!

Jon Gosling
