Letter from the Brentford FC boardroom, 10th July 2006

Dear Supporters,

It has been disappointing to see two of our best players leaving the Club in the last week but with Jay Tabb out of contract and Michael Turner contracted to be informed if bids came in for £250K or more there was little the Board could do to retain them. Both players had been offered improved contracts but the chance for them to play in the Championship, with its associated rewards, proved too much for them to turn down. They have done a terrific job at Brentford and all we can do is thank them for their efforts in the famous red and white stripes and wish them the very best for the future (unless they are up against us of course!). Leroy is now working very hard to bring in replacements for them.

Preparations are in full swing for the new season. The Club is delighted to announce yet another new commercial partnership for the new season, Azure who will take over the public catering arrangements. Representatives from Azure will be present at the Fans Forum this Monday and they will be providing various samples of the sort of food they can provide and at what prices. They want your views on what you would like served on matchdays. So please do turn up at 7 pm on Monday, taste and tell them what you think.

Azure are our third new commercial partner (Refreshing Solutions and Samvo are the first two) and reflect the considerable effort that has been put in on commercial activities over the last few months.

The Internet ordering capability on the ticketing system is ready for testing. During the course of the next week the Club will be asking for volunteers to test the system. So please offer to help when the request comes.

As part of the Football League’s ‘Fans of the Future’ initiative we will be promoting our season ticket schemes for both the under sevens and under sixteens. The promotion will take place at our first home game against Blackpool on 5 August. Details will be published nearer the time.

I can now confirm the dates of my matchday surgeries when you can take the opportunity to raise with me the issues concerning the Club that are important to you.

The Club will be announcing shortly the date, prior to the season, when you will be able to meet Leroy Rosenior and some of his staff and players. Do keep an eye on the official site for details.

Let’s work together!

Jon Gosling
