Stockport County, 29th September 2007

I am pleased to welcome our friends from Stockport County FC who like us are a Trust run Football Club. They also have had some tough times and decisions to make, but they have turned their Club from relegation candidates into a strong team in our division. I am sure they will be “there or thereabouts” come the end of the season. Despite our rivalry they have shared their experiences and offered us valuable support and advice, particularly over the last eighteen months, which we are extremely grateful for. Despite this I’m sure that from 3pm until the final whistle co-operation will be set aside! Whatever the result I look forward to sharing a beer with them afterwards.

Well done to all those supporters who took part in the walk to Wycombe to publicise the Club’s continued financial plight. Although they were let down by Sky TV, who had promised to cover the event, it should not detract from their efforts. Thank you to everyone who walked, supported, organised and sponsored the event. Your efforts are part of what makes this Club special and I am extremely proud to represent you on the Club Board.

In the first programme of the season I told you that, in a bid to meet more of you at my surgeries, I had decided that for this season to hold every other surgery in the Princess Royal. For the remainder I will be holding them in different parts of the ground. Today I am holding my second surgery of this season in the Braemar Road Forecourt. I am hoping many of you will take the opportunity to ask me about anything that is on your mind concerning the Club.

At my last surgery in the Princess Royal, I met with seven supporters and I thank all them for coming to meet me. Some of the topics that they raised were:

So if you have a question or wish to express an opinion about the Club please come and meet me. My next surgery will back at the Princess Royal before the home game with Rotherham United on Friday 12 October between 6.15 - 7.15 pm. Please note this is a change to the previously advised date of 27 October.

Talking with Terry Butcher after the game with MK Dons I know how desperately disappointed he and the players were with their performance. He understands our frustrations and recognises the importance of our support to the team on a matchday. So let’s move on from that performance and be united as a team to get a win today.

Let’s work together!

Jon Gosling
