Notts County Programme, 29th January 2008

What do the fans want? They want entertainment, they want passion, they want commitment and they have not had that of late.”  Was this a quote from a Bees fan early last month?  Well actually Alan Shearer said this when talking about the appointment of Kevin Keegan at Newcastle.  As knowledgeable as Mr Shearer is about the game he forgot to mention the small matter of results!

I am pleased to say that since Andy Scott took over the managerial reigns at Griffin Park he and the team have delivered all the above!  Given the way we were playing and the results we were getting it has been a tremendous turnaround.  Congratulations are due to everyone involved.  The team thoroughly deserved their standing ovation following the Chesterfield game not just for the performance on the day but also for the six previous games.

You should also take a bow, as your support has been absolutely magnificent too, not just in the recent run but also over a rather barren two years before that.  You sang at the end of the last game “We’ve got our Brentford back!” and you deserve it.

Andy said after the game that the atmosphere you generated was amazing and paid tribute to you in the way you lifted the side when Chesterfield scored.  He added that the atmosphere took him back to the time he played in the 1999 Championship winning side.  You can and do make a difference, so more of the same from you tonight please.

With the pride and passion back, both on and off the pitch, it gives us tremendous optimism for all of us to face the challenges ahead.  No matter what the future throws at us if we are united with the Brentford Spirit then who knows where it can take us?

Let's work together!
