BFC Supporter Director
My name is Jon Gosling and I am asking for your support.
Bees United (the Brentford Football Club supporters’ trust) has decided to fill one of its board positions on the Football Club board by direct election by its members and I am offering myself as a candidate. Why?
I believe that supporters, the local community and the Club employees should all work together to build an inclusive and successful Brentford Football Club with a sustainable future in a modern stadium.
There needs to be openness in the way that the Club is managed and with clear communication about what is happening. This will allow all of us to understand the realities of life at our Club, not least being £8.5 Million of debt.
I understand directors' statutory responsibilities, how business works and am able to discuss financial and strategic plans. I will ask, when necessary, awkward questions and can constructively challenge the Board. Also, I am comfortable speaking at Board meetings and to large groups of supporters and are willing to defend unpopular decisions to them
Being a good communicator I am used to using all the communication channels open to me and will use these skills to ensure that supporters are aware what is going on at their Club.
As a Bees United board member I have delivered on my previous election commitments whilst achieving successful results at board level in my professional life.
The Club continues to be in a perilous financial position and I want to work to ensure that the Club’s future is safeguarded for future generations. As the supporters’ representative on the Football Club board I will communicate with you on a regular basis and enable you to be informed about what is actually happening at your Club. By voting for me you will be voting for someone you trust to deliver on their promises.
If you don’t know who Bees United and Brentford Football Club are and would like to know more use these links.
As one of the three candidates in the election I have launched this website to give the opportunity for everyone to communicate with the successful candidate without having to go though the Trust or the Football Club. In so doing I hope to establish a suitable degree of independence from both organisations.
Naturally I would like to be the successful candidate and, as a result, the content of this site is focused on electioneering. Ultimately, if you elect me to the board, I will be able to use this site to tell you what I am doing there and you will be able to communicate with me directly to voice your concerns. Hence you will be kept fully informed as to how I am fulfilling my role as supporter director.
The site is still under development and I welcome your feedback on contents and what you would like to see. Please email me at
Thanks
Jon Gosling
