I hope you are all aware by now that my three year term of office as Supporter Director expires on 21 February and so this is my last letter to you in this role that will be published in the programme.

Looking back over the last three years most of the first two were probably amongst the worst in the Club’s history.  I’m sure we all can pick out several “lowlights” from our relegation season.  My worst experience of all however was the following season, watching the 7-0 thrashing at Peterborough, where for the first time in supporting the Club for nearly 40 years I felt like leaving a game at halftime!  Thankfully December 2007 saw a significant change in the Club’s fortunes with the appointment of Andy Scott as First-Team Manager.

To say that I was shocked to hear that Nathan Elder’s appeal against his sending off on Saturday was dismissed is a massive understatement. No one to whom I have spoken to who witnessed the incident thought that Nathan’s sending off was deserved and that includes the Notts County manager Ian McParland!

Good afternoon, I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas Day and are looking forward to our clash this afternoon with one of our nearer rivals, AFC Bournemouth. I hope many of their supporters have made the trip to the game and see an entertaining game and of course three points for the Bees!

Bournemouth have of course started the season on -17 points and I was interested to read Lord Mawhinney’s (Chairman of the Football League) recent comments about the adverse impact points deductions have on the competitiveness of the league the team is in. He is quoted as saying

The game had everything: end-to-end football, plenty of goals, a sending off, a saved penalty, the woodwork being struck, near misses, great saves, some skilful play and even a firework landing on the pitch from a nearby firework display! Both teams gave everything and did their respective Clubs credit.
